Dr.Bolarinwa Omotosho Trains VYOs and NGOs workers on Innovative Financing and Strategic Fundraising at Lagos State Government Capacity Building Programme 2021

Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has organized a two-day capacity building programme for registered VYOs and NGOs in Lagos State. The event, which took in Lagos State, took place at the Ikeja Youth Centre on Wednesday 24th November 2021. This training was formally declared open by the Permanent Secretary Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Dr Aina Olugbemiga Ayoola.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary Dr. Aina Olugbemiga Ayoola, informed the participants that all must key their activities into the programme of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His. Excellency  Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu. “Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development  has the mandate to conduct this kind of training for capacity development and it is going to be a continues exercise in Lagos State as envisioned by the administration of Mr Governor.” He said.

Also at the training is the Director of Youth Development of  Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mr.  Johnson Olufemi Adetoye, he said that “the training was packaged to provide knowledge and skills to VYOs and NGOs .” Other speakers, who spoke during the opening ceremony on the first day of the training included Mr. Kolawole Segun Oreniyi, the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Lagos State Radio Service.

The highpoint of the capacity building training was the presentation of Dr. Bolarinwa Michael Omotosho,  a veteran youth worker and the Founder of Anchor International Care and Humanitarian Initiative. He said that “VYOs and, NGOs are making a vast positive difference in Lagos State. And they must always be a vehicle to create positive change in our society.” He added. He emphasized seven ways VYOs and,NGOs can easily fund their activities and through the training, participants were exposed to the numerous opportunities of funding their organization activities. Thereafter, He emphasized on  3 “I” of Strategic Fundraising as he said  they are Identify your needs, Identify your budget and Identify your donors (individual, organizations, grants )

Omotosho charged the participants to put into practice what they will learn from the training and use the knowledge gained to increase fundraising for their organization. He stated that “great programmes don’t produce a great result but people in the great programme who take great steps to implement the great ideas from the programme will only produce a great result.”

Some of the beneficiaries of the training workshop, who spoke with journalists at the event, commended the initiatives of  Mr Governor  Sanwo-Olu and the team of Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development.
